Biography

Jessica’s artistic journey began in childhood, sketching horses with a detailed eye for their beauty and power, laying the foundation for a lifelong creative passion. In high school, she stumbled upon encaustics, captivated by its depth and vibrant textures.

At Indiana Wesleyan University, she earned a degree in Illustration, mastering visual storytelling to weave narrative into her work. In October 2016, Jessica faced Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW), a debilitating condition caused by topical corticosteroids -halting her painting for six years. This ordeal, which began as a treatment for eczema, inspired a profound abstract expressionist series started in 2022, dedicated to raising awareness for TSW and supporting ITSAN.org’s advocacy efforts. Her work unpacks complex emotions—grief,
resilience, and joy in suffering—reflecting her faith in Jesus as a source of hope.

Beyond abstracts, Jessica creates impressionist landscapes of now-developed local terrains, preserving their fleeting beauty, and hyper-realistic drawings of horses and portraits: using graphite, oil, acrylic, and watercolor. Her global heart for missions, love for the persecuted Church, and volunteer travels fuel her appreciation for the diversity experienced at the Cross. Jessica also offers art services, including consulting, large-scale projects, live painting, plein air, art rentals, “pop-up” galleries, local art gift boxes, and an artist referral network.

When not creating, she serves as a real estate agent, wife, mother, and member of College Park Church. Recently, her work was acquired by a private collector, a globally influential entity in the wellness industry with a multibillion-dollar presence, underscoring the synergy between her art’s exploration of human experience and the collector’s commitment to global well-being.

Some FUN facts

I have been chased by wild elephants.

While serving on a two month internship in Mvera, Malawi, I was fortunate to teach a children's art class, taught local women how to manage their textile business, and worked on children's book illustrations for the non-profit organization. One afternoon, a herd of elephants came by our neighboring village (in search of bananas), and ended up charging in our direction. It remains the best reason to start running.

I have held a wild stingray, and snorkeled with barracudas.

While serving on a construction based mission trip, on our free day we snorkeled around the second largest coral reef in the world -just off Belize! Our tour guide helped us connect safely with local wildlife: the stingray was so large I could barely touch the other side. They are super gentle animals.

As a teen, I worked at local stables to assist with barn chores in exchange for free riding.

Discovering horses at an early age propelled an interest to own one. My parents negotiated occasional riding lessons, but ultimately the library became my best friend to learn all about them. I started drawing my favorites, and fell in love with art in the process.
